Director of Development

Mission of Mercy is a free mobile medical program serving uninsured individuals and families with access to primary healthcare services for acute and chronic conditions. Our six rotating clinic sites deliver quality, compassionate care and provide an equitable medical home for those falling through the cracks of our healthcare system. Our mission is "To restore dignity, 'Healing through Love' by providing free healthcare."

Essential Duties:

The Director of Development assists the Executive Director in the overall fundraising and development efforts to fund the Arizona medical program. Primary responsibilities include:

Individual Giving – create, implement, and evaluate annual fundraising plans and special campaigns to include identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors at all levels, including:

•    Major donors
•    Monthly givers
•    Annual fund donors
•    Planned gift donors
•    Prospective donors

Marketing and Communications – oversee external marketing and communications team, strategies and activities, including:

•    Clarify key messages for donor segments
•    Produce copy for fundraising appeals
•    Work with communication contractor and Executive Director to produce monthly e-newsletter
•    Collaborate on social media, publications, event collateral
•    Participate in speaking opportunities, conduct clinic tours

?    Leadership – foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization, including with the Arizona Health Partnership Fund Board, staff, consultants, and volunteers

•    Serve as Vice President and Secretary of the Arizona Health Partnership Fund Board
•    Create and manage the Development Department budget

Team Management – manage development staff, contractors, and volunteers/interns, including:

•    Routine assessment of procedures
•    Conduct annual development staff performance reviews
•    Ensure accurate data collection in donor database

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree
•    5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with 3+ years in a leadership position
•    CFRE desirable
•    Experience with DonorPerfect (or other donor database)
•    Experience with Planned Giving

Additional Details:

Salary is commensurate with experience and in the range of $70,000 – $85,000 annually. Benefits include health, dental and vision coverage, and a generous time off package. Office hours are Mon through Fri 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work. This is an in office (Phoenix) position with some flexibility.
