March of Dimes Foundation
- Non - Profit Health Care Organizations
March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
In 2013, the March of Dimes celebrated its 75th Anniversary and its ongoing work to help babies get a healthy start in life. Early research led to the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines that all babies still receive. Other breakthroughs include new treatments for premature infants and children with birth defects. About 4 million babies are born each year in the United States, and all have benefitted from March of Dimes lifesaving research and education.
March for Babies, March of Dimes largest fundraiser is held annually in the Spring and gives hope to nearly half a million babies born too soon each year (10,000 of those babies are in Arizona). The money raised supports programs in the community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. And it funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten our babies. We’ve been walking since 1970 and have raised an incredible $2.3 billion to benefit all babies. This year, 3 million people will join their family, friends and colleagues in nearly 700 communities across the nation.
