Consumer Cellular is an American postpaid mobile virtual network operator founded in October 1995. Based in Tigard, Oregon, near Portland, the company pioneered the no contract plan model, with a key focus of their marketing to retirees. In September 2008, the company began working with AARP, helping to enlarge Consumer Cellular’ s subscriber base from around 30,000 customers in 2006 to more than three million in 2018 making Consumer Cellular one of the largest mobile virtual operators in the U.S. Consumer Cellular has two contact centers in Oregon and three in the greater Phoenix area with capacity of over 2,000 CAA’s in the greater Phoenix area. Consumer Cellular goes beyond just mobile phones and has included caregiving product to it portfolio in 2018.
