Green Roundtable Garbage Can to Watering Can: Food Waste as Alternate Water Source
Date and Time
Tuesday Jun 8, 2010
7:30 AM - 9:00 AM MST
Location
201 N. Central Ave., Ste. 2700, Phoenix, AZ 85004
Description
Food waste has long posed significant problems in handling,
sanitation, transportation, disposal and decomposition. The historically
common practice of transporting food waste to landfill and burying it
accomplishes nothing except combustion of fossil fuels and production of
methane, hydrogen sulfide and other harmful compounds. Alternatives to
landfill such as pulping and composting have benefits, but also pose their own
challenges.
