Since her first day as Northern Arizona University's president in August of 2014, Dr. Rita Cheng has placed an emphasis on access to education, stemming from her personal experiences as a non-traditional, first-generation college student. She knows very well the challenges and rewards of simultaneously pursuing an education and a career, and actively engaging as a parent and partner to her husband, Tom. Internationally recognized for her research in government and nonprofit accounting, Dr. Cheng has been elected to serve on multiple national boards, including the NCAA Division I Board of Directors. At September's Professional Women's Alliance luncheon, Dr. Cheng will share the challenges and opportunities facing higher education today and her personal journey to the top.
