JOB TITLE: Wish Granting Support Intern
REPORTS TO: Wish Manager/Wish Support Manager
JOB SUMMARY: The Wish Granting Support Internship will provide candidates the opportunity to experience the mission of Make-A-Wish Arizona by directly contributing to the wish planning process, as well as the Wish Discovery process. This position works firsthand with our Wish Managers and the Wish Discovery team, and when permissible, with our wish kids and their families. They also would strengthen relations with the referral community to encourage more wish granting in Arizona and to begin the wish journey for families by sharing wish approval with families.

Each intern is supported by the Human Resources Manager, who manages the internship experience. The Wish Granting intern will report directly to the Senior Wish Managers, as well as our Wish Support Manager
 
This is not a remote position.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Wish Coordination: Assists in coordinating the one, true wish of a child with a critical illness at the direction of the Wish Delivery team including the wish managers and program leadership. Includes creating travel documents and compiling wish packets for families who are traveling.
  • In-Kind Donations: Solicits vendors and other local organizations to seek in-kind resources that are directly utilized in granting wish experiences.
  • Data Entry: Utilizes Salesforce database in order to input, manage, and track all wish- related data, such as medical clearances and all correspondence through the life of a wish.
  • On-Going Projects: Assists with a variety of ongoing projects such as process renovation, document overhaul, and assistance in other departments as needed.
  • Completes initial phone interviews with caregivers of new wish children.
  • Follows up with medical staff on missing electronic forms.
  • Conducts follow-up with wish families regarding paperwork.
  • Assist in researching potential new referral sources throughout Arizona.
  • Assist in reviewing wish clearance forms and provide additional follow-up/action, when needed.
  • Assist in strengthening our outreach program and increasing referral sources through the research of and building connections with health care facilities in central and southern Arizona.
  • Assist in delivering touchpoint gifts to referral sources in the central Arizona region.
  • Assist in the review of wish family enrollment forms and transferring key information to the wish child’s profile in Salesforce.
  • Facilitate welcome calls to wish families, when needed.
  • Prepares and co-facilitates medical outreach presentations and events.
  • Considers new medical outreach tools and endeavors.
  • Assist in creating referral recognition gifts and activities.
  • Assist in building medical outreach newsletter.
  • Assist with Wish Family Welcome Orientation.
  • Assist in securing volunteers for wish discovery visits. 
  • Assist in facilitating wish discovery visits, when necessary
  • Assist in the planning and execution of a wish discovery party, if necessary
  • Provide support to volunteers pre-discovery call, when necessary
 
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 15/25-hour work week desired
  • Communication – comfortable speaking with wish families, donors, volunteers, and staff
  • Flexible – days and tasks constantly change based on the needs at hand
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus
  • Self-starter can take initiative to complete tasks and projects when delegated
  • Commitment to professionalism
  • Must have reliable transportation
