If you're looking for new ways to grow and sustain your family owned business – then be sure to check out the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce's newly launched ''Family-Owned Business Forum.'' The Chamber has launched this event in partnership with Meridian Bank to provide family owned businesses with a unique opportunity to learn, connect and develop resources for their companies.
Join us on Thursday, September 30th as Mr. John Whiteman, former CEO/President of Empire Southwest, takes attendees through 60 years of building a successful family business. Mr. Whiteman will speak with attendees on the importance of building core values for your company. He will share his thoughts and personal experiences regarding how creating these core values form the foundation for a company that can endure generations of leadership.
Empire Southwest is a family owned business founded in 1950 as Empire Machinery, an Eastern Oregon Caterpillar and John Deere dealership. When founder Jack Whiteman was awarded Caterpillar's Arizona territory in 1959, the company relocated and began building partnerships with Arizona's construction and mining industries that endure today. John O. Whiteman succeeded his father as CEO/President in 1991 and held that position for 11 years. Currently, Mr. Whiteman is President of the Whiteman Foundation, a philanthropic organization focused on the health, education, and welfare of children.
